Arriving by plane in Sardinia
The main airports in Sardinia are to Cagliari (Elmas), about seven kilometers from the capital of Sardinia, Alghero (Fertilia) and Olbia (Costa Smeralda), linking the island to the main national and international airports. A few local flights also connecting some Italian cities with the small airport Tortolì (Arbatax) now closed.
Upon arrival at the airport you can rent a car on the spot, as in all airports there are several car rental companies, including Hertz, Europcar, Eurorent, or use the public services connecting the airports with their city, or even taxis. In particular, the airport of Olbia, in the summer season, there are also bus direct to the main towns of the Costa Smeralda and the Gallura.
Starting from the main national and European airports, several flights can reach the airports of Sardinia. Several national and international airlines offer daily scheduled flights, as well as charter flights and low-cost during the summer.
